Readers who will like this: Kids who are into history and want to know more about social change and making a difference. Also a great book to share and introduce culture norms and segregation.

Rating/Response (1-4): 3; the book was beautifully done. Personally it did simplify the work that Nelson Mandela did and the jail time he spent while still trying to fight for what he believed in.

Text-Dependent Question: What did the note that Nelson sneak out to the people say?

Strategy: Book Talks – With this book teachers can show students the book, read and excerpt and then pass it to a student who is interested and then have them share what they read.
