Reference: Weatherford, C. B. & Nelson, K. (2006). Moses: When Harriet Tubman Lead her People to Freedom. New York: Disney.

Annotation: Guided by God Harriet Tubman led the way to freedom she then was known as Moses.

Genre: Historical Fiction

Grade Level: K-4

Readers who would like this book: Readers who would like would be if they want to learn about the underground railroads which weren’t railroads at all. Also to learn about Harriet Tubman and how she set herself free and led her people to freedom.

Rating: I would rate this book a 4. It’s a great book that shows how Harriet was guided by her fate to liberty and how brave she had to be to go back and lead the rest to freedom. Also, the illustrations convey the emotion of Harriet very well.

Text-dependent question: How did Harriet know who to trust?

Strategy: K-W-L Chart

I would use this strategy to help combine student’s background knowledge and student’s new knowledge of the topic and it adds what they learned after reading. I would especially use this for social studies.
