Goldilocks and The Three Dinosaurs
Bibliographic Information: Willems, M. (2013). Goldilocks and the three dinosaurs. England. Walker Books Ltd.
Short Annotation: This story takes on a different version of Goldilocks and The Three Bears except with dinosaurs. Also the dinosaurs want to have Goldilocks in their house so they can eat her? But she decides that it is not the right place for her so just before the dinosaurs can catch her she leaves out the unlocked back door.
Grade Level: 3rd grade
Readers who like this book: Readers who love fairytales and want some good laughs. Also readers who love animals that take on human roles.
Personal Response and Rating: (1-4): 4. I love the different take on this fairytale it is modern and so much fun to read. The illustrations are just as amazing as the book and could never get sick of reading the book.
Text-Dependent Question: How does Goldilocks know she has to leave?
Reading Strategy Connections:
- Minilessons (Tompkin)
- Minilessons are to provide students with a lesson that can cover over a few days. Because this is a fairytale book a teacher can cover different fairytales to her class.
- This is appropriate instructional match for a children’s book because a teacher is able to start a new lesson on many things from fairytales to dinosaurs. Also a great opportunity for writing sentences.
