Title: El Deafo

Annotation: Cece was an average little girl. Then one day she got very sick and had to be taken to the hospital. After her hospital stay she came to realize that she couldn’t hear. So her parents get her hearing aids and she starts at a school for the deaf. However later on Cece goes to a new school where she feels different because not everyone is deaf. Cece comes to realize though that with her hearing aids she has a sort of super power, she can hear her teachers voice anywhere she is. So she comes up with the superhero name El Deafo. Cece uses this new power and finds out that she can make new friends even with her hearing aid.

Readers who would like this: Readers would enjoy this book if they enjoy reading books based off of real stories. Readers would also like this book if they had a connection to the main character. This would also be a good book to read if the reader enjoys reading books with the main characters being animals.
Rating and Response: I would give this book a 10. I really enjoyed reading it and know that others would enjoy it as well. This book gave me a unique perspective about how a deaf person may feel or view the world.
