Alexie, S. (2016). Thunder boy jr.. New York, NY: Hachette Book Group

Annotation: This book was about a little boy who did not like being named after his father,  because he wanted to make a name of his own. He works with his dad to come up with the perfect name for himself.

Genre: Fiction

Grade: 2,3

Readers who will like this book: This book is good for Native American readers who want to see themselves reflected in books.

Response/ Rating: I would rate this book a 3 (1-5). I think that the father and son working together is very sweet. I think that this book needs to be read with the message that names are important and every name is special. Teachers should not encourage having their students pick other names for themselves.

Question: What was special about Thunder Boy Jr.’s name in the beginning of the book?
