Reibstein, Mark. (2008). Wabi sabi. New York, NY: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Annotation: This book is about a cat named Wabi Sabi who goes on a journey through the woods to discover if her name is beautiful or ordinary determined by a monkey named Kosho. Her journey is portrayed in haikus. She finds her name to hold the meaning of finding beauty in the simple and imperfect things.

Genre: Fiction, Poetry

Grade: 3,4

Readers who will like this book: This book would be good for readers who enjoy cats. This book would also be good for readers who like books about journeys.

Response/ Rating: I would rate this book a 3 (1-5). I think that it is hard to relate to a human like cat as a main character. It was fun and unique how it contained haikus to help tell the story.

Question: What was the meaning behind Wabi Sabi’s name?
