Title: Are You Ready to Play Outside?

Reference: Willems, M. (2008). Are you ready to play outside? New York: Hyperion Books for Children.

Brief Annotation: This story is about two friends- a pig named Piggie and an elephant named Gerald.  Piggie is so excited to play outside with Gerald, and talks about all the things he has planned to do such as run and dance. This is interrupted by a downpour of rain that truly upsets Piggy. Gerald tries to solve the problem by shielding his friend from the rain with his ear, but this is not enough. Eventually the pig begins to like rain, but by this time the rain has stopped again. Again Gerald comes up with an idea to save the day. This story won a Theodore Seuss Geisel Award.

Genre: Fiction
