Title: Little Red Riding Hood by Trina Schart Hyman

APA Citation: Hyman, T. S. (1983). Little Red Riding Hood. New York: Holiday House.

Short Annotation: This is the original tale of the little red riding hood. Elizabeth was on her way to visit her sick grandmother when she stumbles upon the big bad wolf. The big bad wolf beats her to her grandma’s and pretends to be her grandma so he could eat her. Luckily, a huntsman came by and caught the big bad wolf.

Genre: Folktale

Grade Level: K-5

Intended Audience: This is a classic folktale to read for students. It teaches a lesson at the end to not talk to strangers.

Personal Rating: 10/10, I really liked the drawings. It made the story come to life. Of course, I’ve heard this tale too many times that there were no surprises. This is a good folktale.
