The Bat Boy and his Violin
Curtis, G., & Lewis, E. B. (1998). The bat boy & his violin. New York: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers.
Sports Book- Historical Fiction
Reginald loves to play the violin. His father doesn’t share the same passions and suggest he be the baseball team’s batboy. As soon as Reginald starts playing the violin during games, the team starts playing better.
I think this would be a great book for 3rd and 5th graders who have more of a vocabulary. It would be a great story for students to read to show that you can be an athlete but also a musician.
I give this book a 5/5. I really like the message and how at the end of the book the team doesn’t win but the father is still proud of his son for playing the violin.
What happened once Reginald starting playing the violin at the baseball games?
