The Last Stop on Market Street

de la Pena, M., Robinson, C. (2015). Last stop on market street. New York. G. P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers.

Fiction- diverse

Every Sunday after church, CJ and his grandma ride the bus. CJ begins to wonder why they don’t have a car, or an Ipod like the boys on the bus. Grandma always answers in a encouraging way to help him see the beauty and fun in their routine and world around them.

This is a great book for any classroom! The illustrations are so radiant and really bring to life the characters. It is a perfect diverse book for any classroom.

I love this book. De La Pena highlights a wonderful relationship between grandparents and grandchildren and the different types of cities people grow up in. I can for sure see why it won so many awards.

Where do CJ and his grandmother end up at the end of the story?

  1. Book Talk
  2. Book talks are brief teasers that teachers give students to introduce them to new books and interest them in reading the books.
  3. Teachers use these book talks to introduce books in the classroom library in hopes that students will grab them and want to read them.
